March 16 is deadline for Sussex chamber scholarship applications

Newton — The Sussex County Chamber of Commerce is offering five scholarships to area students for the 2009-2010 school year. The scholarships will include a top award of $2,000; one $1,500 award; and three $500 awards. These scholarships will be used to further each recipient’s education at a college, professional, technical, vocational or business school. The Chamber is also providing a $1,000 to the Sussex County Community College Foundation for scholarships in the spring and fall semesters and a $1,000 scholarship to Dover Business College. Dover Business College donated the funds being used for this scholarship. The SCCC Scholarship Committee selects the scholarship recipients and distributes the funds. All scholarship applications received through the chamber for those seeking SCCC scholarships will be forward to the Scholarship Committee for review. Applications have been mailed to all public and private Sussex County high school guidance departments along with criteria specifications. Applicants must follow the application instructions and return to the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce office by March 16.
