MAJOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Watch out for students returning to school. Byram Township: resurfacing on I-80 westbound, west of Hope-Johnsonburg Road to east of Ledgewood Avenue; lane closures from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.; estimated completion August. Hampton: Bridge H-03 (CR622) over Paulins Kill; closed to traffic for replacement; estimated completion 12/09. Lodi: US 46 bridge construction westbound between east of CR 61/Main St. (Lodi) and East of CR 65/Westminster Pl., through August 29, M-F from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; 1 lane blocked. Montague: Bridge M-28 and M-29 (CR 650/State Park Ave.) replacement scheduled for fall 2009. Town of Newton: Route 521 paving, beginning in Swartswood at Route 622, continuing to Town of Hampton, County Route 626; road closed to through traffic. Ogdensburg: Route 517; gas line installation from Sparta at I-181, through Ogdensburg and Franklin to Route 23; lane closures and lengthy delays will occur until further notice; estimated completion end of August. Parsippany - Troy Hills Township: I-187; repaving northbound ramp to Exit 41/I-80 (Parsippany - Troy Hills Township) on August 28 and 29 from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.; watch for traffic shift. Sparta: Route 517 gas line will be installed (see Ogdensburg above) through August; expect delays. Sussex Borough: Newton Ave will be closed to through traffic for paving from Route 23 to Loomis Avenue. Route 80: NJDOT to resurface eight miles in Bergen and Passaic counties starting mid-August on Route 80 EB from west of Madison Ave. to Polify Road in Bergen and Passaic counties and.75 miles of I-80 WB in Paterson, Passaic County. Both directions will be resurfaced from mileposts 58.25 to 58.98 in Paterson, Passaic County; overnight work with closures of 1 to 2 lanes; scheduled completion in October 2009. A second project will repair I-80 eastbound, including bridge decks, from milepost 58.2 to milepost 65.4 in Paterson, Elmwood Park, Saddle Brook, Lodi and Hackensack, beginning at Route 19 interchange at milepost 58.2 in Paterson; scheduled completion Dec. 2010; single and double lane closures on this portion of I-80.
