Local reservist helping to produce USO-style show

Vernon - Jared Morgan has always loved music. He made his first speakers out of milk crates and black cloth back in the late 1990s, while attending Vernon High School, and worked as a DJ for local area events. His music career took a detour when he joined the Army in his junior year of high school. After high school graduation in 1998, he attended boot camp and went on to study communications at Montclair State. Now a professional film editor and owner of the Pantless Production Company, Morgan serves in the 63 Army National Guard Reserves Band. As a National Guard reservist, he serves two weekends a month and two weeks over the summer. Army Band members were also eligible to audition for the US Army Soldier Show and Morgan was chosen to work the sound boards for “Lights, Camera, Action” the 90-minute inspirational musical variety show based on the premise of a television production studio. (A modern Bob Hope style USO show.) According to Jayne Morgan, Jared’s mother, her son’s dream has always been to film a feature-length production. “He has come a long way from homemade speakers and local DJ-ing. We are very excited for him.” Selection for the show began about a year ago. Participants include Army reservists and active duty soldiers from all over the world including war zones. The show is a 10 month commitment and will end in November. Morgan will return to running his Pantless Production Co. and freelance film editing.
