OAK RIDGE — Sharissa Lakhicharran recently competed in the New Jersey Department of the American Legion's Oratorical Contest at the War Memorial Building in Trenton.
Representing District No. 1, she competed with representatives from four other districts, speaking about the Constitution and By Laws of the United States. She placed fourth in the competition and was awarded a scholarship by the American Legion.
It was noted by those who attended the competition that this was one of the most competitive contests in recent years.
