Woman dies in one-car crash

Jennifer Steinhilb, 35, of Sparta was killed in a one-car crash involving a tree on Woodport Road the evening of Friday, June 20, Sparta police said.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, Capt. Tom Snyder said.

Steinhilb was a special-education teacher at White Rock Elementary School in Jefferson and the mother of three young children.

2 pedestrians hit

Two pedestrians were struck by a motor vehicle that did not stop about 9:45 p.m. Saturday, June 28 in Lake Hopatcong, Jefferson police reported.

When officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman in the driveway of 64 Brady Road. The man was taken to Morristown Medical Center with serious injuries. The woman had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The vehicle was described as a dark SUV-type.
