Sussex County Health Dept. offers flu shots

    The flu season has arrived and getting vaccinated with a flu shot is the best way to prevent becoming ill with the flu.

    Sussex County Office of Public Health Nursing is giving flu shots every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (except for holidays) at the office located at 201 Wheatsworth Road in Hamburg.

    Clinic hours are from 2–4 p.m. and no appointments are necessary. Flu vaccine is available for both children and adults. In addition, pneumococcal and tetanus/pertussis (Tdap) vaccines will be offered for those who meet the recommendations.

    There is no cost for flu vaccine for people who have Medicare (just bring your card) or for people who meet low-income eligibility. For others, the cost of the flu vaccine is $15.

    Pneumococcal vaccine is free for residents aged 65 and older and $50 for residents under 65 years old. Tetanus/Pertussis vaccine is $35. Cash or checks are accepted.
