Sussex County election results

    Sussex County voters took to the polls Tuesday to elect local and county leaders, decide on two state ballot questions, and make their voice heard in state and national elections. Below are the results.

    Wallkill Valley Regional BOE

    Guy G. McHugh was voted to the Wallkill Valley Regional Board of Education for Hamburg. William M. Castiglione was voted to the board for Hardyston.

    Franklin Borough BOE

    Kevin Blondina, Dawn Murrin and Ronald Neal were voted to the Franklin Borough Board of Education.

    Hamburg Borough BOE

    Sandra Cunningham, Matthew Christy and Donna Mangine were voted to the Hamburg Borough Board of Education for three-year terms. Brad Richard Carroll was voted to the board for a one-year term.

    Lafayette Township BOE

    Anne Sellinger, Linda A. Peoples and Lisa Carlson were voted to the Lafayette Township Board of Education for three-year terms.

    Ogdensburg Borough BOE

    Paul Worthington and Ricardo Rojas were voted to the Ogdensburg Borough Board of Education for three-year terms. Stacy Walsh and Nina Sutera were voted to the board for two-year terms.

    Franklin Borough Common Council

    Republicans Frederick J. Babcock and Gilbert J. Snyder were elected to the Franklin Borough Common Council.

    Hamburg Borough Council

    Republicans Ronald Garrett and Mark Sena were voted to the Hamburg Borough Council.

    Lafayette Township Committee

    Republican John D'Angeli was voted to the Lafayette Township Committee.

    Ogdensburg Borough Common Council

    Republicans George P. Hutnick and David Astor were voted to the Ogdensburg Borough Common Council.

    NJ ballot questions

    Voters in New Jersey decided to make NJ Superior Court and state Supreme Court judges pay more towards their health and pension benefits by an 83 to 17 percent margin.

    Voters also decided to allow New Jersey to borrow $750 million through bonds to build classrooms and labs in higher education institutions across the state.

    County, state and national elections

    Republicans Dennis Mudrick and Gail Phoebus were elected to the Sussex County Board of Freeholders.

    Incumbent Democrat Bob Menendez was again voted to the U.S. Senate for a six-year term.

    Incumbent Republican Scott Garrett won a sixth consecutive term to the House of Representatives for the 5th Congressional District while incumbent Republican Rodney Frelinghuysen won a tenth consecutive term in the 11th Congressional District.

    Barack Obama won a second term as President of the United States. He received 38 percent of the votes in Sussex County.
