FRANKLIN — The Boy Scouts in Franklin and Hardyston as well as the Wallkill Valley Girl Scouts participated in the Sixth Annual Building Bridges Weekend at the Franklin Pond.

This year's theme that the scouts chose was the Zombie Apocalypse. More than 80 scouts participated in skill-building stations in the morning. Patrol teams created shelters for hiding from the Zombies, administer first aid to an impaled victim, created weapons from wood, started a fire to ward off hypothermia, and created a solar oven to cook in the new age, as well as other fun skills.

The Forest team won the morning events.

Afternoon games initiated with all patrols engaging in a battle trying to take Zombie targets down with catapulting tennis balls.

Other events included escape the zombies and build-your-own-zombie skeleton. The afternoon competition ended in a warfare between the last two teams standing, the Heather Gray team and the Purple team battling it out with a giant Kerplunk game, where the object was to remove a dowel from a large cylinder without letting any body parts fall down. The Purple patrol triumphed. The day ended with a slide show of the entire event and a DJ.
