Sussex County Community College celebrated the accomplishments of 16 nursing graduates during a formal pinning ceremony held Jan. 13, marking a milestone for students preparing to enter the health care workforce in Sussex County.

The ceremony included an awards presentation, a candlelight ceremony and the recitation of the International Council of Nurses Pledge.

The graduates completed their education through SCCC’s ongoing partnership with Passaic County Community College, a collaborative nurse education program designed to meet the growing demand for registered nurses across Sussex County. The program allows local residents to complete a rigorous, high-quality nursing education close to home while supporting area hospitals and health care providers.

Following graduation, students will complete the National Council Licensure Examination, the final step required to earn licensure as registered nurses and begin working in the health care field, many within Sussex County and the surrounding region.

Through the program, qualified students admitted to the Passaic County Community College Nurse Education Program, offered in conjunction with SCCC, complete clinical courses with PCCC on the SCCC campus. The four-semester program begins each January and includes both general education and nursing coursework.
