Ridgefield Commons presents plan to council

SMS, Inc., Hardyston Developers who took over Ridgefield Commons, gave a presentation to the mayor and council members a theoretical development master plan for the Ridgefield Commons on Sept. 9.

Township Manager Marianne Smith explained that eventually they will be looking for a zone change and also council will need to amend their developers’ agreement. Smith informed the council that discussions pertaining to the issues of the zone change and the amendment to their developers’ agreement will be discussed in the future.

Carrine Piccolo-Kaufer, board planner for Hardyston, informed the council that SMS, Inc.

Hardyston, the new developers for the Ridgefield Commons, have been working on finishing the units that were in various stages of construction over the last couple of years. She explained that SMS, Inc. is near the end of what they want to do in terms of the original approval for the townhouses, and are possibly looking to change the housing type to apartments which would require a zoning change.
