Razumov charged in Wantage murder

WANTAGE — An 18-year-old High Point student and neighbor of Virginia “Suzie” Sommer is now in jail after police charged him yesterday with robbing, stabbing and killing the 73-year-old retired nurse on Nov. 15, officials said.
Victor Razumov, Jr. faces additional charges of attempting to destroy evidence and resisting arrest, according to a statement from the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Troopers searching Victor Razumov’s bedroom on Nov. 20 had recovered what appeared to be a blood spattered paper, when Victor grabbed that paper from the officer’s hands and attempted to flee the house, according to the statement.
Razumov continued to struggle and to destroy the piece of paper, but police finally secured it.
He is now in jail on $1,025,000 full cash bail, police said.
That same day, detectives located other evidence in the home and found pieces of the victim’s jewelry in a wooded area adjacent to the Razumov’s home.
Razumov’s brother, Alexey Razumov, was also arrested in connection with the murder, police said.
Police apprehended him at the home the brothers shared on Neepaulin Drive. Police said he received and attempted to sell jewelry stolen from Sommer’s home on Valley View Drive in Lake Neepaulin. Police later found jewelry belonging to Sommer at pawn shops in Sussex and Franklin boroughs.
Alexey Razumov was lodged in Sussex County Jail on $50,000 full cash bail, police said.
Lt. Colonel Matt Wilson of the New Jersey State Police praised the investigators handling the case.
“Detectives have been pursuing justice non-stop, right through the Thanksgiving holiday, from the time the victim was discovered until now,” said Lt. Colonel Matt Wilson, Deputy Superintendent of Investigations for the State Police. “I commend their dedication, and hope their work will eventually bring some closure for the family of the victim.”
