OGDENSBURG — Attention Ogdensburg residents: mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 20, for a "festival-like" celebration commemorating 100 years since the borough was established.

"It's going to be a true community celebration with a festival-like atmosphere," Ogdensburg Mayor Steve Ciasullo said.

Plans include a super-sized parade, featuring military and antique vehicles, members of the VFW, historical society, and even Revolutionary War re-enactment marchers. "We're planning something for everyone, from children to adults," Borough Council President Rob McGuire said.

The Ogdensburg Parent-Teachers Organization and the Ogdensburg Teachers Association have already signed up to sponsor children's activities. Fireworks are scheduled to wrap up the day's events, and the borough is continuing to firm up plans for party tents, an obstacle course, and more.

McGuire also said the borough is evaluating several quotes from various suppliers to make the most economical choices.

"We're also looking into having a casino night fundraiser to help cover some of the costs," McGuire said.

Casino Night is tentatively planned for a Friday night in July. A meeting also is being set up by the council to focus specifically on all the facets, requirements, and legal needs related to the celebration.

Those interested in participating or volunteering for Ogdensburg's 100th Anniversary Celebration on Sept. 20 may contact the Ogdensburg Borough Council at 973-827-3444.
