Milford Urgent Care and Milford Imaging will cease operations on Sept. 28
Atlantic Heath System, the parent company of the Milford Health and Wellness Center, located at 111 Catharine St., announced that two of its components, Milford Urgent Care and Milford Imaging, will close on Sept. 28.
However, primary care and pediatrics will continue on at the site.
Atlantic Health System said a multi-year evaluation of needs demonstrated there is a lower-than-expected demand for urgent care and imaging services, and that demand has continued to decline. Conversely, they say there's a strong demand for primary care services — services that are continuous, rather than episodic.
The company says it is proud to serve the community and continues to do so.
“We are committed to exploring new services to this location that would better serve the community, as well as exploring how to expand access to existing primary care services there,” said Rob Seman of Atlantic Health.
Additional offices at the site, including outpatient laboratory, behavioral health, and diabetes education, will remain open and unaffected by this change. Emergency and higher acuity needs should be treated at an emergency room. The nearest Atlantic Health System affiliated emergency room is located at Newton Medical Center, 22 miles away. But Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y., is just eight miles away.
Milford Imaging is providing clients with lists of other imaging providers in the area, as well as a list of the services that will continue to be available at the Catharine Street location.
