Lafayette Mayor and Deputy Mayor are sworn in

Lafayette. Kevin O’Leary (pictured) and Richard Hughes were recently sworn in as Lafayette Mayor and Deputy Mayor, respectively. He and his wife of 34 years, Katy, have four adult children, Caitlin, Erinn, Meghan and Conor. O’Leary graduated from Villanova University in 1981 with a dual degree, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Arts Honors Program. Locally he has been a member of the Township Committee since 2018, as well as a 16-year member of the Lafayette Land Use Board, including nine as board chair. He has served on the subcommittee involved in resolving Lafayette’s Affordable Housing obligation. He has been a Lafayette Open Space Advisory Committee member since its inception, back in 2004 directly involved in formulating the Township’s Open Space Plans to memorialize Township’s goals of maintaining the character of Lafayette and involved in the process of obtaining Green Acres and other grant funding; 18-year treasurer of Lafayette Amateur Athletics, Inc responsible for obtaining and maintaining not-for-profit designation for organizations running sports programs for Lafayette youth. He is a longtime coach of basketball, softball, soccer and baseball teams, and codirector of the annual Lafayette Invitational Basketball Tournament. (Photo provided)
