Gift giving at any time of the year can be quite complicated, but the Jefferson Township Recreation Department may have the solution relatives and friends are looking for – a week at the 2015 Camp Jefferson Summer Day Camp located in Lake Hopatcong.

Returning for its 12th season, summer camp will run from June 22 through Aug. 21 - that’s nine weeks in a natural environment at the township’s 94-acre facility located at 81 Weldon Road. The camp day runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and before and/or after camp care, morning only bus transportation (from PNC Bank in Oak Ridge), and lunches are also available for an additional charge.

Camp Jefferson’s facilities offer a spring-fed lake for boating and fishing, outdoor sports facilities, open grass fields, an amphitheater, a fire pit with seating, numerous themed cabins, a main community lodge with a full kitchen, a recreation hall/game room, basketball courts, a movie theater, a picnic pavilion, high and low ropes courses, an archery range, a 40-foot rock climbing Wall with a vertical playpen and a 250’ zip line, two GaGa Pits, and a state-of-the-art playground.

There will be camp themes each week with special programs and activities for all campers including special group projects and dress-up days, color wars, water inflatable activities, special treat days, competitive games and activities, Jefferson Township Fire Companies’ wet downs, dance parties, and live professional performances/demonstrations. Typical camp activities include playground activities, sports, creative crafts, science and nature, fishing, boating, archery, a ropes course, mini golf, inflatable water slides, ping pong, foose ball, billiards, air hockey, Trangle Ball, Baggo, and outdoor games including tetherball, croquet, shuffleboard, bocce ball, hopscotch, trail walks, board games, horseshoes, and rainy day activities -- all at no extra charge. Then there are options for exciting off-site trips, special elective classes, and sports clinics for additional fees.

Camp fees for 2015 will remain unchanged — $190 for a five-day week and $150 for a three-day week (you choose the 3 days) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and there is a $30 non-refundable registration fee per camper.

The program is open to all children 3 years old as of June 22, 2015 and completely potty trained, children entering Kindergarten through sixth grade in September 2015, and a teen program for children entering seventh and eighth grades in September 2015. Registration and payment in full is now always due two Tuesdays before the week you want the child to attend.
