Irish Cottage Inn plans cancer fundraiser

FRANKLIN — The Irish Cottage Inn will hold its fifth annual head-shaving fundraiser with its third annual 5K run on Sunday, March 30.

The events have raised more than $50,000 in the five years with $25,000 being raised last year alone.

This years event is been held in memory of Derek Semanek, who was 31 years old when he died last September. He was an active player with the Skylands and Mennen Adult Ice Hockey Leagues and was an avid fisherman. Derek is the devoted son of Alan and Lois Semanek of Highland Lakes, brother of Jason Semanek of Great Meadows, and twin brother of Lauren Lowell of Vernon, uncle of Eva Lowell.
