High Point school board member resigns

    Pamela Flynn, the High Point Regional High School Board of Education members from Sussex Borough, voluntarily resigned her position on the board at the May 13 school board meeeting.

    Her term was scheduled to end Dec. 31, 2014.

    The Board of Education has 65 days to fill the vacant position and the interviews must be conducted in a public forum and advertised in the district's official newspapers.

    The Board of Education tentatively decided to hold a special emergency meeting on June 3, while several members suggested canceling the June 17 meeting in favor of the special emergency meeting on June 3 meeting. However one member said the public meeting must be held on the regularly scheduled date of June 17.

    Both meetings will take place at 7 p.m.

    The school board passed a $2,000 increase in the cost per freshman student. The national average cost per pupil is estimated to be $15,000. According to the school board, the current cost per pupil is approximately $18,832. The cost per pupil includes teacher salaries.

    The Board of Education passed the hiring Michael Parigi as the supervisor of Building and Grounds at an annual salary of $81,000.
