Sixteen members of the Wallkill Valley Regional High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the 2018 FBLA-PBL National Fall Leadership Conference in Chicago, Illinois, from Nov. 1-4.
Members participated in various motivational general sessions and workshops in order to develop their leadership skills. Wallkill Valley members were able to reflect on how to “Create, Lead, Inspire” with members and advisers, which is the 2018-2019 national theme.
Brandon Lee White, author, speaker, and youth mover, was the keynote speaker for the Conference Opening Session; he amazed the audience as he focused on “owning it” in life and leadership.
Carlos V. Spencer, provided a motivational keynote production at the Closing Session and promoted “Let’s Go, Let’s Grow, and Let’s Get It.”
Students attended workshops that included: “Servant Leadership,” “CREATE a Foundation of Success,” “We’re the Connection: Showcase Yourself,” “How to Shine in an Interview,” “Powerful Professionalism,” “Above All, Act with Integrity,” “Constructing Your College App Narrative,” “Growing Your Potential,” “Developing Soft Skills in Future Leaders,” and “Beyond the Busy of Leadership—Get Focus.”
The New Jersey contingency had the opportunity to network with members from states across the Nation, take in the sights at Skyview Chicago (Willis Tower), Museum of Science and Industry, and the Architectural River Boat Cruise, and experience the Chicago deep dish pizza.
