VERNON — Even with the threat of thundershowers, Cherry Ridge Range hosted a near record 398 visitors for a free day at the range last Sunday.
Pleasing everyone who came out, the cloudy sky turned blue for most of the afternoon. The recurring annual event gives family members the opportunity to experience the shooting sports and see exactly what the Canistear Road facility has to offer. In addition to a comfortable and spacious clubhouse, there are six different outdoor ranges on site. The day’s offerings included the chance for folks to try their hand at a variety of shotguns, rifles and handguns, while under the supervision of nationally certified instructors and volunteer staff.
The Vernon range is owned and maintained by the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC).
