Business 'Set-n-Stone' for over a decade

LAFAYETTE — When Craig Kellstrom found himself being asked for advice more and more and becoming “a source of knowledge” at the flooring store where he worked in Newton, he realized his calling was to open a tile and flooring business.
“I was at the point in my life where I was either gong to work for a store, be and installer or open my own store,” he said. “I took the leap of faith.”
His business was set to open on Route 94 in Hardyston, but a name for it was far from set in stone. That's when Kellstrom found himself at a grand opening his friend, Mike Lawlor, was having for his shower door business.
“He asked me what the name of my business was going to be and I said, 'nothing is set in stone yet. [Lawlor] said, 'you just got your name.'”
Set-n-Stone Tile & Flooring opened a few weeks later.
After seven years in Hardyston, Kellstrom was approached by the owner of the plaza on Route 15 in Lafayette to let him know space was available. The business had grown to the point where Kellstrom really needed a warehouse, so he made the move in 2012.
With a 4,000 square foot warehouse and over 10,000 square feet of tile in stock, business is booming. In addition to tile, Set-n-Stone does hardwood floors, carpeting and vinyl. Kellstrom also has a fork lift so he can transport products right to a customer's vehicle.
“We do all aspects of flooring,” Kellstrom said. “People often don't know we do hardwoods and carpeting because of the name, but we sure do. We also do commercial installations.”
Set-n-Stone has all the products commonly spec’d by architects for both the home and commercial application. From ceramic tile and hardwood to carpet, laminate and vinyl tile, Linoleum, granite counter tops and frame-less glass enclosures, Set-n-Stone has it all.
Kellstrom graduated from High Point Regional High School in 1987. After that, he worked in various businesses and learned a lot about different industries before settling on tiling and flooring. He has over 20 years of experience in the business and gets a lot of referrals from contractors as well as walk ins.
