Burgos saluted at final walk-out

Franklin police Sgt. Rafael Burgos was honored during a final walk-out ceremony Monday, Nov. 18.
He retired after a 29-year career, including 26 years with the Franklin Borough Police Department.
A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, Burgos started as a special police officer in Beach Haven. After graduating from the Ocean County Police Academy, he began his full-time career in Allentown, N.J., before joining the Franklin department.
He was promoted to sergeant in 2017.
He served as a patrol officer, firearms instructor, active shooter instructor and Megan’s Law liaison.
His numerous accolades include a Life-Saving Award from the Fraternal Order of Police for rescuing an elderly resident from a house fire.
