AS29 Milestones. In education

• Lebanon Valley College in Annsville, Pa., has named Abby Poltersdorf of Hamburg as a Valley Ambassador for the 2023-24 academic year. Poltersdorf, a graduate of Wallkill Valley Regional High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education. As a Valley Ambassador, she escorts prospective students and their families through the college’s campus to see the academic quad, a typical classroom, a residence hall and the athletic fields while providing information about life at the college.

• Hannah Schiavo of Oak Ridge was named to the fall dean’s list at Emerson College in Boston. A GPA of 3.7 or higher was needed. She is a freshman majoring in media arts production.

• Kyle Forchette of Ogdensburg was named to the fall dean’s list at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. A GPA of 3.5 or higher was required. Forchette is a senior majoring in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology in the university’s College of Arts and Sciences.

• Zofia Schreiber of Hamburg was named to the fall dean’s list at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. A GPA between 3.5 and 3.89 was required.

• Omar Al Deek, Brian Sutherland and Kenny Dembia, all of Ogdensburg; Nina Bagaub, Kate Finnegan, Maddie Lau, Robyn Platz, Regan Tryde and Angelina Carlson, all of Lafayette; Jenna Bronstein and Devin O’Connor, both of Franklin; Andrew Cooper, Angelina Carlson, Heidy Gutierrez, Dominique Hartman, Kayla Mahoney, Ryan Okken, Sarah Paz, Preston Pietruszewski, Shannon Quigley, Kaitlyn Ragoobir, Hallie Schiavo, Giana Valero and Jeffrey Danyus, all of Oak Ridge; Alexa Gutt, Sabina Kunze, Isabella Lacatena, James Nieves, Sarah Philback, Tyler Pullins, Rayna Rambowski, Bryanna Smedley, Sam Wortche and Krystian Kipp, all of Hamburg; and Ben Mizeski and Elena Spagna, both of Stockholm, were named to the fall dean’s list at Montclair State University. A GPA of 3.50 or higher was needed.

• Carly Fitzmorris of Hamburg was named to the 2022-23 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete award list. She is a student at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven and plays basketball. Student-athletes must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.25 to be eligible for the award.
