Local chefs will provide organic fare for fundraiser
Andover A number of chefs will prepare local organic fare for the second annual Every Bite Counts Dinner to be held at Perona Farms on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. Participating chefs include: Andre deWaal of Andre’s Restaurant, Kirk Avondoglio of Perona Farms, Kristie Becker of Cheddar Alley, Tim Harder of the Dining Room and Corey Heyer of Bernards Inn. The dinner will consist of five courses, each prepared by a different chef and paired with complementing wine. Each course will include local, organic products that are being donated by Sussex and Warren county farmers in cooperation with The Foodshed Alliance in Blairstown. Donating farms include Godlewsky Farms, Great Meadows, Best-Best Fruit Farm, Hackettstown, Donaldson Farms and Pittenger Farms, Andover. To lend ambiance to the evening, John Sheehan, a local guitarist, will be playing original finger style instrumental music, including classical guitar and Renaissance lute. The fundraiser benefits Katie’s House, a group home in Newton that offers activities and habilitation to young adults with disabilities. The executive director of Katie’s House, Evelyn Dudziec, has recently written a book that teaches parents of mentally challenged young adults what to do as they age as caregivers. The book will be available the evening of the event. Tickets are $100 each or $80 each for a table of 10 or more. For tickets, call Tracey deWaal, co-owner of Andre’s Restaurant, at 973-300-9840, or Katie’s House at 973-383-3221.
