Ashly Preziosi, Cheyenne Mazzucco and Chris Martinez show off Lenape artifacts, They were among the fourth graders at Franklin Borough School who got to experience what life was like for Lenape Native Americans. Through a grant provided by the Franklin Education Foundation (FEF), John Kraft of Lenape Lifeways Inc. gave an informative and entertaining slide show about the history of the Lenape. Students were able to get a feel for the Lenape tribal lifestyle by trying on clothing and handling original Lenape artifacts such as turtle shell bowls, masks and stone tools. As a culminating activity, the fourth graders read the legend of the corn husk doll and made their own corn husk dolls in the manner of those commonly used by Lenape children.
