Learning about fine-feathered friends

SUSSEX L’il KEEPers preschool kids have been busy learning about birds. The class has been discussing the different types of birds that can be found in the back yard. They’ve also been discussing the fact that birds hatch from eggs, live in nests and how the mother and father bird must feed the babies and keep them warm. They had the chance to see live birds when staff member Heather O’Connell brought in her two parakeets, Trudy and Monk, to share with the class. The children also created several bird themed art projects to go along with their bird unit. These projects include a popsicle stick bird house, a paper blue jay and a spaghetti bird’s nest.
