Key Club boosts child cancer research
VERNON-Vernon Township High School Key Club will hold a lemonade stand at Wal-Mart in Franklin Oct. 1 to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand, a charity that raises funds for pediatric cancer research. Alex's Lemonade Stand was started by Alexandra Scott when she was four years old. She died of cancer last year at the age of eight. In the past four years, the charity has raised over $1 million for cancer research. The lemonade stand will be held rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Country Time Lemonade has donated all of the lemonade to be used at the stand. Key Club is the youth service club associated with the Kiwanis. Alex's Lemonade Stand is the New Jersey district project for the 2005-2006 service year, and Key Clubs throughout the state are holding similar fundraising events.
