KEEP kids learn about food pantry

| 22 Feb 2012 | 12:41

Students attending the Vernon KEEP after-school program recently visited the Food Pantry at St. Frances de Sales Church in Vernon. The students are learning about the importance of making healthy food choices and want to share what they learn with other children. Volunteer Arlene Hill gave the students a tour of the pantry and explained how the food is acquired and distributed. As part of Vernon KEEP’s participation in Youth Service America and as a recipient of United Health HEROES Service Learning Grant, the students will donate food to the pantry along with Healthy Snack recipe booklets that they have written for this project.
