Next Wednesday, Vernon High’s young cooks will test their skills. Vernon Township High School has had cooking classes for years, but this is a new twist. On May 12 from 6 to 8 p.m., the Family and Consumer Science department, along with Sodexo Food Service, will hold a Student Iron Chef Competition. Four teams of students will work with Sodexo chefs to compete using culinary skills learned in advanced food classes. The program is open to the public. Admission of $5 include a buffet dinner. Proceeds will benefit the Family and Consumer Science department’s scholarship fund.
