Independent Maikis in Wantage deserves attention
I would like to make the voters aware of a new candidate for Wantage Township Committee. Bob Maikis is running as an Independent candidate. I have known Bob for the last five years, having met him through mutual friends, at various township functions, school board meetings and while coaching basketball in the league he ran for the children of Sussex/Wantage. The one thing I believe we all share is the disdain for the escalating municipal taxes. In 2008 our municipal taxes rose 19.5 percent, in 2007 taxes rose 10.4 percent and this year, 2009, 7.9 percent. That is an average of 12.6 percent a year. What new services have we received for these huge increases? None! When the average income rose less than 3 percent a year, you have got to say enough and start looking for new leadership. We clearly need people who can think outside the box, comprehend issues and be aggressive in seeking and implementing solutions. Bob Maikis certainly fits that bill. Now, you may not agree with Bob on every issue (since when does anyone agree with our elected officials 100 percent of the time) but one thing I know is that Bob seeks the facts, will listen attentively to other viewpoints and then make an informed decision. Please, go to Bob’s Web site (http:web.me.com/rcmaikis) and see what he has to say. We have a lot of things happening in this township that will have major implications for our future. We don’t need people who run for committee just to get benefits. We have serious issues facing us and we need serious people to address them. Please, do yourself and your neighbors a favor and take a minute to see what Bob has to say on the issues. Pete Compa Wantage
