Hospital lists classes, support groups
NEWTON Newton Memorial will offer the following classes and support groups in January at the hospital and at the Sparta Health and Wellness Center: Heartsaver Adult and Pediatric CPR will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11 and from 7 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $35. Healthcare Provider CPR for New Providers will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 11 and Jan. 18 at Sparta Health and Wellness Center. The cost is $60. Healthcare Provider CPR Renewal will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16 at Newton Memorial Hospital; from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 at Sparta Health & Wellness Center; from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Newton Memorial Hospital; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 at Sparta Health & Wellness Center. The cost is $50. Heartsaver Adult & Child, AED CPR will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9 at Newton Memorial Hospital. A Breastfeeding Class, which will teach mothers the correct breastfeeding methods to nourish their newborns, will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Two, eight-week yoga series will begin this month. Newton Memorial Hospital will offer a Continuing Level Yoga series, taught in the Ausara style of Hath Yoga, from 5 to 6:15 p.m., running from Jan. 11 through March 8. The hospital will also offer a Mixed Level Yoga series from 6:30 to 7:50 p.m., running from Jan. 11 through March 8. Each session costs $90 and will be held at Newton Memorial Hospital. A Breast Cancer Support Group meeting will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at the Sparta Health and Wellness Center. It is offered by Newton Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society. A hypnosis class aimed at helping individuals lose weight naturally will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14 at Sparta Health & Wellness Center. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $70, or $65 with a written note from your physician. The “Man-to-Man” Prostate Cancer Support Group will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at the Sparta Health & Wellness Center. The group is co-sponsored by Newton Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Prepared Childbirth classes, to help prepare expectant parents for the big day their son or daughter is born, will be held as a two-session course from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturdays, Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 at Newton Memorial Hospital. A stress management for children workshop will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The workshop will explore practical strategies for helping children (and adults) manage stress. Come away from the workshop better equipped to help children (from infants through school-age) sort through their feelings.
