Highland Lakes — This holiday season, while shoppers are scrambling from store to store overloaded with packages, traffic has snarled to a standstill and little remains of the holiday spirit except buyer’s remorse, one Highland Lakes woman wants people to stop for a moment and enjoy something absolutely relaxing and completely free. Beth Nolan, a veteran holistic practitioner, is offering a series of free yoga classes as an early holiday gift. They will take place on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Highland Lakes Clubhouse at the corner of Breakneck and Lakeside Drive West. The classes will focus on taking care of one’s body, breathing and focusing inward, she says. Nolan, who has been working in holistic healthcare for more than 20 years, says she saw the sinking economy as an opportunity to help others. “When you think about this economy and the way people are losing their jobs and dealing with economic stress, I thought it would be important to offer free yoga classes to help people focus on themselves — to put the focus inward and help people create the life they want.” Nolan is an established yoga instructor and believes that the free classes will give people a lift. “With the stress of this economy, I want to give people a way to deal with it, so I thought what better way than free yoga.” Nolan started working in holistic healthcare at 17, after a car accident sent her to a chiropractor, where she eventually became a chiropractic assistant. A few years later she earned a license as a massage therapist. Six years ago, she included health kinesiology in her practice, which uses various techniques to help clients heal and relieve stress. “I was always drawn to the holistic field, and now I’ve been self-employed at it for more than 22 years.” Just recently, Nolan added spiritual counseling to her list of healing services. “I give people a safe space to find that ‘ah-ha moment’ where they can find the solution within themselves. I’m really just there to provide that open space so an answer can flow in.” Find out more at www.bhtherapy.com.
