HARDYSTON-By mid-October, Hardyston township government be in its new home on Wheatsworth Road. Move-in day is scheduled for Oct. 17, and the new furniture will be delivered the week before. Officials are planning a festive ribbon-cutting celebration for early November, but have not yet chosen a date. "We're still on schedule and still on budget," said Township Manager Marianne Smith. Smith said that the contractors are hustling to apply final coats of paint, install lighting fixtures, set ceiling tiles in place, and add trim, millwork and flooring. "The exterior work is in its final stages, and should be complete next week," said Smith. "The sidewalks are nearly complete, and the final grading and paving will be done by the end of the week." Meanwhile, Smith said, the township department of public works has added drainage to the nearby soccer field, which also will be resodded. "It's been too dry to install the sod," said Councilman Wayne Ross. "As soon as we have adequate rain, we can move ahead with the project."
