Hamburg Police truck struck head-on

On Sunday, May 31 at 7:44 a.m., Patrolman Andrew Chase was traveling north on Route 23 in the area of Oak Street in a 2007 Dodge Durango, when his patrol vehicle was struck head-on in its lane by a 1999 Ford Explorer that was being operated by Angela L. Vitale, 18, of Vernon, which was traveling southbound on Route 23. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals by Hamburg EMS, for complaints of pain, where they were both treated and released. Preliminary investigation was conducted by Patrolman David McNuIty, and further crash investigation is being conducted by the Sussex County Crash Team.
