HAMBURG POLICE
March 2 At 9:16 p.m., Hamburg Police responded to a borough residence for a reported family dispute. When police arrived, they found that the accused, Gerald C, VanHorn, 27, of Hamburg, had left the residence. Investigation at the scene revealed that he threatened the victim and damaged items inside of the house during the dispute. VanHorn later turned himself in at the Hamburg Police Station, where he was charged with terroristic threats, harassment and criminal mischief. He was released from custody pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court. Patrolman Christopher Nichols investigated the incident, and was assisted by Patrolman Jason Eben. March 3 At 9:30 p.m., Thomas A. Grieco, 21, of Wantage, was charged with simple assault and harassment. The charges came as a result of an investigation in which he arrived at a Hamburg residence on February 18, 2009 and assaulted the resident, who sustained minor injuries. Grieco was released from custody pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court Patrolman David McNulty investigated the incident. March 4 At 4:31 p.m., a 2008 Chrysler that was being operated by Judith E. Velazquez, 49, of Wantage, was stopped in traffic on Route 23 in the area of King Cole Road, when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 1996 GMC Yukon that was being operated by Emily Hurley, 17, of Dover, Velazquez sustained minor injuries from the collision, but refused further treatment from the responding EMS. Detective Paul DeMott investigated the collision, and has issued Hurley motor vehicle summonses for careless driving and violation of a provisional driver’s license. Velazquez was also issued a motor vehicle summons for driving an unregistered motor vehicle March 5 At 1 a.m., Hamburg Police were dispatched to a Borough residence for a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival, Henry R. Chinga, 25, of Hamburg, and Ariel C. Chinga, 18, of Franklin, were both observed actively fighting in the residence and they had to be physically separated. When both were placed under arrest, they both struggled with officers during handcuffing and were ultimately subdued. Both men were transported to the Hamburg Police Station, where they were charged with simple assault, harassment and resisting arrest. Both were released from custody pending appearances in the Hamburg Municipal Court. Patrolmen George Gurtderman and David McNulty investigated the incident, and were assisted by the Hardyston Police Department.
