DWI arrest made after vehicle leaves scene of Franklin crash On Saturday, July 11, Hamburg Police stopped a 1990 GMC Jimmy driven by Christopher M. Richert, 24, of Montague, as he was driving north on Route 23 at 8:55 p.m. The vehicle was wanted for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident in Franklin. After a brief roadside investigation, Richert was arrested for DWI and his vehicle was impounded under the provisions of John’s Law. Richert was later charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended and failure to exhibit a registration card. He was additionally issued motor vehicle summons by the Franklin Police in connection with the motor vehicle accident. He was released pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court, Sgt. Erik Aronson investigated the incident and was assisted by Franklin Patrolmen Greg Cugliari and Seamus Geddis.
