Arrests made for underage drinking On April 19, at 6:33 p.m., Hamburg Police were advised of juveniles drinking in the woods along the Wallkill River, off of Lime Kiln Road. Patrols discovered several youths in the woods, which led to the arrest of a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old male, both from Hamburg, for underage consumption of alcoholic beverages. Both were transported to St. Clare’s Hospital in Sussex for medical treatment and were later released to the custody of their parents. Juvenile charges are being prepared for underage consumption of alcohol, Sgt. Erik Aronson investigated the incident, assisted by Hamburg Patrolmen David McNulty and Andrew Chase, and Hardyston Patrolman Michael Masters. Motor vehicle stop leads to DWI arrest On April 22, at 10:33 p.m., a 2004 Honda that was being operated by Scott A. Norris, 46, of Vernon, was stopped after it had been observed driving erratically and failing to keep right on Linwood Avenue and Hamilton Streets. After a roadside investigation, Norris was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and his vehicle was impounded under “John’s Law.” He was transported to the Hamburg Police Station, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, careless driving, failure to keep right and failure to exhibit documents. He was released from custody pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court on May 5 at 5:30 p.m. Sgt. Erik Aronson investigated.
