VERNONnGlen Meadow Middle School’s students and faculty recently raised $5594.20 to be contributed to The American Red Cross for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Caitlin Spillane, a seventh-grade student at Glen Meadow, saw the devastation on TV from the hurricane and flooding and wanted to help. She talked with her principal, Dr. Carol Nelson, and contacted Vernon Schools Superintendent Mr. Anthony Macerino who offered encouragement and support for the project. Mrs. Lawler’s homeroom class led the way in donations with over $1,000 and was treated to pizza and soda by Little Anthony’s Pizza.
