Fuller Mountain Preserve walk is May 15
WARWICK, N.Y. The Orange County Land Trust will hold a guided Natural and Human History Walk on Saturday, May 15 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Land Trust’s 255-acre Fuller Mountain Preserve in the Town of Warwick. Led by naturalist Gary Keeton, this moderate 1.75 mile hike rambles through a wooded ravine to vistas overlooking the Warwick Valley. A brief history of the region will be presented, with a focus on what is visible, particularly the various plant communities and how people utilized these plants throughout history. Old foundations, stone walls and other historical remains of human activity on the mountain will also be examined. As there are areas of steep and rocky terrain, this hike is not intended for very young children. A donation of $5 per person or $10 per family is suggested with all proceeds going toward the future stewardship of Fuller Mountain Preserve. Meeting time is 10 a.m. at the trailhead kiosk on Bowen Road. Registration is recommended as space is limited by calling 343-0840.
