Vernon Christopher Monschauer, an eighth-grader at Glen Meadow Middle School, was recently selected to represent Vernon Township schools in the Annual Poetry Recitation Contest to be held at William Paterson University. Christopher will compete at the beginner level with high school, junior high and middle school students on Thursday, May 20. Contestants are required to memorize and recite the assigned poem “Pont Supérieur” by Jules Supervielle before a panel of judges. Judging criteria include delivery, pronunciation, intonation and poise. Vernon’s high school world language chairman Vito Galati selected Christopher as the district’s representative in introductory French after hearing and critiquing Christopher’s recitation of the poem.
