July 29 Alicia M. Kurtyka, 25, of Sussex Borough, was arrested for four counts of forgery and five counts of theft by deception. In February 2009, she allegedly stole several checks from her parents’ joint checking accounts, forged signatures and cashed the checks at banks in Franklin for her own benefit. She was lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $25,000 with no 10-percent option. Office Ryan Churchwell investigated the case with assistance form Detective Leo Kinney. July 31 A vehicle driven by Ramy W. Mahmoud, 18, of Franklin, was stopped for failing to stop at a stop sign on Ridgewood Road. Further investigation let to Mahmoud’s arrest for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was issued summons for failure to stop at a stop sign, careless driving and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was also issued a complaint summons for possessing a controlled dangerous substance. Mahmoud was released pending a court appearance in Franklin Municipal Court. Patrolman Nevin J. Mattessich investigated. Aug. 1 A vehicle driven by Raymond Crowe, 40, of Westtown, N.Y., was stopped for speeding. Further investigation led to his arrest for driving while intoxicated. He was issued summons for speeding, driving while intoxicated, failure to submit to breath tests, reckless driving, failure to keep right and driving with a suspended driver’s license. Crowe was released pending a court appearance in Franklin Municipal Court. Patrolman Nevin J. Mattessich investigated.
