FRANKLIN POLICE
Aug. 26 At approximately 6:55 p.m. Patrolman Seamus Geddis and Carl Douma of the Franklin Borough Police Department responded to the Franklin Walmart for a shoplifting complaint. Further investigation led to the arrest of 33-year-old Christopher Preziosi shoplifting. He was processed and released on bail pending a court date in Franklin Borough Municipal Court. Aug. 28 At approximately 7 p.m. the Franklin Police Department stopped a vehicle for motor vehicle violations on Route 23. Further investigation led to the arrest of Michael P. McCann, 27, of Williamstown, for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. McCann was issued criminal complaint summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for throwing debris from a vehicle, failure to notify change of address and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was released pending a Court date in Franklin Municipal Court. Patrolman Nevin J. Mattessich investigated. Aug. 30 At approximately 7:30 a.m., Officer Ryan Churchwell of the Franklin Police Department observed a male walking north in the southbound shoulder of Route 23. The male, later identified as Shawn L. Baron, was observed by Officer Churchwell to be staggering into the highway and shouting loudly. During the course of the investigation, Officer Churchwell observed a hypodermic needle in Baron’s pocket, at which time vials of cocaine and heroin were also located. Baron was charged with third-degree possession of cocaine, third-degree possession of heroin, use of cocaine, use of heroin and possession of hypodermic needles. Baron was later turned over to the Sussex County Sheriffs Department in lieu of $5,000 bail with no 10-percent option. At approximately 1 p.m., the Franklin Police responded to the Franklin Walmart for the report of a shoplifter. Investigation resulted in the arrest of 26-year-old Lori L. Monsees of Little Falls for third-degree shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was found to be in possession of a rubber tourniquet and an empty bag of heroin. Monsees was released on her own recognizance pending a future first appearance in Franklin Borough Municipal Court. Officer Jeffrey Korger investigated.
