Foundation funds programs at Lafayette Township School

Lafayette Several faculty members of the Lafayette Township School received awards from the Lafayette Education Advancement Foundation, known as LEAF. Jason Graf was awarded $5,086.95 to integrate music composition software programs into the school’s music curriculum. He will use the money to purchase five MacBook laptops and music software for students. A $1,250 grant was awarded to Patti Ehrhardt to assist struggling readers. She will be use the money to purchase iPods and audio books for students in her middle school classes. Alice Sensale received two grants. One for A $450 grant was awarded to Alice Sensale to develop an interactive “hunger simulation” for seventh- and eighth-graders that makes students think about the challenges faced by other students within Sussex County and the world. And a $200 grant was awarded to Sensale to develop a “Mystery Festival” for second- and third-graders. The project will be developed and led by G&T students from her fifth- and sixth-grade classes. The grants were presented to the teachers during a ceremony on Feb. 22 by LEAF trustees Ed Mueller and John Kelly. The Lafayette Education and Advancement Foundation’s mission is to enhance the educational experience of the students of Lafayette Township School by providing funding to teachers for educational and cultural programs. A non-profit organization, it raises money through community events throughout the year.
