First graders learn financial basics

WANTAGEValley National Bank's cartoon mascot, "Lee", joined Beverly White, first vice president of the bank, visited Mrs. Valle's first grade class at Clifton E. Lawrence Elementary School to teach them the basics about money and saving. White and "Lee" led the class in a reading of the book, "Penny". They also provided a video showing how quarters are minted, and gave each of the children a brand new state quarter. Valley National Bank, promoting financial literacy, has sponsored visits by bank employees to numerous elementary and high schools in the local communities to teach the basics of responsible money management.
