Families dance together at the library

Wantage Laughter and dancing feet filled the Community Room of the Sussex Wantage Library last Friday as Family Hip Hop Night kicked off an upcoming series of free dance lessons to be held at the library in April. Dance Expressions of Hamburg in conjunction with the Friends of the Library hosted the event, which was led by Ellen McGovern and Leighann Lorenzetti of Dance Expressions. Dancers started with warm-up exercises to hip hop tunes, including music by the Black Eyed Peas and Justin Timberlake. Miss Ellen and Miss Leighann taught the participants a complete routine including fast stepping, quick arm movements and spins. “We like to hold a variety of free classes,” said Friends of the Library President Jayne McHugh. “We have also had family line dancing and salsa. We try to mix it up.” The next hip hop classes at the library are set for April 13 and 27 and May 4 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Registration is required. Call the library front desk at 973-875-3940 to register.
