Familiar faces on newly structured school board
Hardyston The reorganization of the Hardyston Township didn’t actually require much reorganizing. The board remains exactly the same. Incumbents Cheryl Whitehead, Randolph Roof and Todd Anderson were each sworn in for new three-year terms, and incumbent Edward Blahut took a one-year term at a meeting held last Tuesday. Also keeping their jobs were the president and vice president of the board, Christine Clavin and Dr. Kevin Johnson. Best voter turnout ever The biggest change in the election this year was in voter turnout. This year, 1,042 ballots were cast, meaning that 20 percent of the population went to the polls. This is a marked increase from last year, when only 9 percent of the township came out. It was also the second highest turnout in the county, according to School Board Secretary Jim Sekelsky. It was a close call for the budget, with only 55.5 percent voting yes to the $8.3 million dollar tax levy.
