Fairview Lake Y offers adventure programs

    STILLWATER-Fairview Lake YMCA is offering a number of one-day adventure programs this fall. The "One-Day Wonders" are open to people of all ages and will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. selected Sundays, beginning Oct. 2. "Our One-Day Wonders offer people young and old the opportunity to get outdoors and experience ‘Mother Nature' through a variety of fun activities," said Frank Kelly, executive director of Fairview Lake YMCA, Following is the program for October. Mushroom hike, Oct. 2 — Explore the gorgeous trails of Fairview Lake YMCA while their experienced and trained staff teach the good, the bad and the ugly about wild mushrooms. Fishing derby, Oct. 16 — Bring your pole and get ready for a parent-child fish off. Awards will be given for the heaviest fish, longest fish and most fish caught. Autumn Appalachian Ridge hike adventure, Oct. 23 — Hike on the Appalachian Trail to the Kittatinny Ridge. This two-hour, moderate hike is a great way to get exercise naturally and enjoy a magnificent view of the Tri-State area.
