Environment is the topic at upcoming Wallkill Refuge meeting

VERNON - The Walkill River National Wildlife Refuge will hold a public education seminar, presented by Wildlife Technician Michele Talmadge, at the Vernon Township Municipal Building on Monday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m.. The commission is hosting this event to educate the public about environmental topics in Vernon Township. The Walkill River National Wildlife Refuge, one of 548 units in the National Wildlife Refuge are unlike national parks, state parks and state forests as the management priority is Wildlife First.’ This refuge conserves the biological diversity of the Walkill Valley by protecting and managing land, with a special emphasis on forest-dwelling and grassland birds, migrating waterfowl, wintering raptors and endangered species.
