Eagles on the wing

Images taken on New Years Day of just a few of the many bald eagles that will converge on the Mongaup Watershed area in Sullivan County, N.Y., during the months of January and February. Not including the local breeding eagles, a large number of wintering eagles arrive from Canada and other areas north of the Mongaup River to feed on fish in the open waters and roost in the dense pine tree forest. A map of viewing areas and other eagle info can be obtained by going to the Eagle Institutes web site at www.eagleinstitute.org .
