Digital homework site is warmly received
Vernon What’s moodle? In Vernon, it’s a new Web program that gives students and parents access to classwork and connects teachers, parents and students online. The moodle has expanded the classroom beyond the walls of the school. Through it, students and parents can view individual class pages where teachers post assignments, notes and study aids. Since the program is free for the district to maintain, said the district’s network administrator Jeff DeYoung, it allows flexibility and a lot of “virtual” space. Each Vernon school is taking part in the program and although not every teacher has elected to use it yet, it is gaining popularity. It’s been a hit in the school community. “We have received nothing but positive feedback,” DeYoung said. Parents enjoy the opportunity to monitor their child’s homework and students don’t have to worry about missing assignments. If they forget to write down their assignments, they can go on the site from home and see what’s needed for the next class. In some cases, students can also complete assignments and submit them online for teachers to review and grade online, too, eliminating extra paper usage and creating an efficient “green” method of doing homework.
