DeBoer's Auto offers free vehicle check-ups as part of national program
Hamburg Motorists can learn more about the benefits of performing scheduled vehicle maintenance and needed repair on Saturday, April 24 when DeBoer’s Auto will participate in Car Care Month activities that are also being held nationwide. DeBoer’s will hold auto inspections from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its location, 83 Route 23 North. The inspections are free but donations to benefit Project Self Sufficiency will be accepted. At the inspections, professional technicians will identify opportunities for customers to improve a vehicle’s gas mileage, enhance performance, increase safety and reduce emissions, according to a press release about the event. The inspections include checking fluid levels, tires, lights and other system components. After the inspection is completed, volunteers review any discrepancies with the motorist and provide information about proper vehicle maintenance and repair. The goal is to help motorists learn how to “Be Car Care Aware.” “These free vehicle inspections can disclose potential safety and operational problems because of deficiencies such as low brake fluid or under-inflated tires,” said Bill DeBoer Jr., vice president and general manager. “Nine out of 10 vehicles going through check-up lanes in 2006 showed consumer neglect. The top problem areas were motor oil, windshield wipers, air filters, belts and hoses and lights,” he said. Beyond the effect that vehicle neglect can have on safety, dependability and performance, a discovery during a check-up lane inspection can help prevent a breakdown at a busy intersection or on a heavily traveled highway or a deserted road far from home.
